Symptoms of Appendicities is a swelling and bloating stomach?

Just had my appendix removed last Monday. I just wanna know what causes appendicitis. Before I got operated my stomach or belly was bloating and it was really big. A few months ago, my friends told me i eat too much because my belly gets fat and looks pregnant actually. I'm just curious, if anyone here can tell me.. Was my large intestine or colon swollen because of my appendicitis?
