Do i need life cover for a repayment mortgage?

financial advisor has told me that for a repayment mortgage i need life cover,even though i am borrowing less than the deposit i am putting down,also it is a repayment mortgage,i understand needing the building and contents,is this true,he seems to get a bigger commission from the personal insurance policy
